— Sen. Lindsay Graham (R - SC) this morning on Meet The Press in response to Mitt Romney’s conference call to donors where he said that President Obama won by promising “gifts” to key demographics
"People can be on public assistance and scheme the system that’s real, and these programs are tittering on bankruptcy. But, most people who are on public assistance don’t have a character flaw they just have a tough life. I want to create more jobs, and the focus should be on how to create more jobs not demonize those who find themselves in hard times. Our party can adjust conservatism as an asset, but rhetoric like this keeps digging a hole for the Republican Party, and if we don’t stop digging we’re never going to get out of it."
